Shark Fishing
Shark fishing is a go year-round here in Key West. We fish from the Gulf of Mexico to the Atlantic Ocean in everything between from 5 to over 1000 feet of water, and you can catch sharks here day or night.
The most common sharks are the bull shark, black tip shark, lemon shark, hammer head sharks, Caribbean reef shark, silky shark, and many more. We sometimes keep a black tip shark for dinner, but all other sharks are safely released after they smile for the camera of course.
At the Captain's discretion, some sharks are brought in for a picture and others are cut loose above the leader. Most of our shark fishing is in deep water over 100 feet in depth with lots of our sharks averaging 100 lbs or more.
We have all types of rods and reels to catch the big fish. All you have to do is to tell us how long you want to fight it from 20 minutes to 4 hours. All of our shark fishing is on the reef, or close to a shipwreck, so we can fish for snapper and grouper while we are waiting for the big one.
The sharks are here year-round, but the best shark fishing is in the summer when the water temperature rises. We use all types of bait for these big sharks like bonito, mackerel, and a variety of jacks that are both live or dead. Most of our shark fishing is on anchor, so we can put out a good chum slick (frozen, ground up fish) and we wait for the sharks to come to us.
