Tarpon Fishing
If you are looking to catch a big game fish on light tackle then tarpon fishing is a must! We have tarpon here in Key West year-round with the best fishing being from April to October. All of the tarpon are caught using circle hooks on light tackle. We will be in calm water the whole time so there is no need to worry about getting sea sick. All of the spots I fish for tarpon are close to home. In fact, they're only minutes from the dock! Most fish average 80 lbs or better!
Once a tarpon is hooked up the fight can last up to an hour or more. While fishing for tarpon we catch a lot of other fish as well, such as mangrove snapper, mutton snapper, yellow tail snapper, lane snapper, red grouper, sharks, cobia, cero and Spanish mackerel, barracuda and a number of bait fish. We even caught bone fish one day. Big fish, calm water and close to home...what more could you want?
