Tarpon

Tarpon

With the winds blowing hard out of the East we stayed in the Key West Harbor and caught monster Tarpon all day. We had a two trips, an eight hour and a four hour. Starting the morning at about 7:30 A.M. we anchored up and started chunking dead baits to get the fish fired up. It didn't take long and we were hooked up with a 100+ pound fish. We released the fish safely after about an hour and twenty minute fight. Getting back on our anchor and chunking again we hooked up with another fish maybe about 65 pounds. Our charter fought the fish for about 50 minutes and she was safely released too. We hooked three more fish that either jumped off or broke the line in the middle of the fight.

The second half we hooked 5 fish and got a leader touch on all 5. The fish dragged us everywhere trying to wrap us up in anchor lines, bouys, dock pilings, and moving boats. We fought fish almost the entire trip. With the weather conditions the way they were it was definitely a good call to Tarpon fish and there was non stop action catching and fighting fish well over 100 pounds. The last fish was close to 150!
