Muttons and Yellowtails

Muttons and Yellowtails

We had six locals on the boat today and they wanted to fish for some big Muttons and some really big summer time Yellowtails. We made a long run today down to the West and started fishing at about 10:30 A.M. It wasn't 20 minutes and we started to get into the a good bite. The first fish up was an 18 pound Mutton Snapper and the rest of the guys followed suit. We ended up boating 5 in the next 30 minutes all around the same size. With the light current we put some chum out and drifted live pin fish back to the Muttons coming up off the bottom. After our five monsters we wanted to look for some big Flag Yellowtails. Moving in a little shallower we put the chum out and started to pick away at some nice fish. Most were only about 2 pounders but every few minutes we would hook and land a nice 5 or 6 pound Yellowtail. With a loaded cooler and a long run home we decided to call it and head for the docks. The weather was incredible, a light breeze for part of the day and flat calm seas
