slow day on the troll

slow day on the troll

Yesterday I trolled out to 2200ft of water looking for big mahi that should be here this time of year. It was a very slow day. We hooked only 1 small schoolie dolphin. The last few days the gulf stream is pushed out 30+ miles south of the reef right now. That's the reason mahi fishing is a bit slow when it should be red hot this time of year. After we spent nearly all day trolling I stopped on the way in and fished some hard bottom for snapper and grouper. We caught 1 10lb red grouper, 1 mutton snapper, a few keeper tails and released 78 or so small reef sharks
