Putting It Together

Putting It Together

Yesterday we fished two trips. On the first charter we started off on a wreck in 180 feet drifting live crabs for Permit. With the South wind kicked up a hair it made it difficult to sight the fish and we ended up moving on to plan B. We slid out to 220 feet to drift some live pinfish for Amberjacks but with the weak current it had the fish laying pretty low for the day. We came back in to 90 feet and saw some Permit schooling on a wreck. After not taking a live crab we decided to anchor up and fish the wreck for Snapper and Grouper. We had two people pulling in nice sized Yellowtails of the side of the boat and two guys fishing the bottom for Muttons and Groupers. We missed a few bites on the bottom rods but the flat lines with live crabs were working well. We released two Permit and boated a big Mutton weighing in around 17 or 18 pounds.

On the second half we decided to go to the West and look for decent current. We need the current for the fish because it helps straighten the lines and the fish are just more active. We tried a few different spots with no new result and than finally we got things going. A few nice Muttons on the bottom, some Yellowtails and Trigger fish up top. Next we caught a nice Amberjack one of my favorite fish to fight. The day ended up coming together pretty good and everyone had a great time and some even better dinner
