Muttons and Tarpon

Muttons and Tarpon

Once again we ran two trips in a day. The first charter was a 6 hour trip where we stayed out front and played with some Muttons and Yellowtails and had other action through out. We caught a Bonito, Barracuda, and a handful of sharks. The two biggest Muttons were over 15 lbs and we had about a 6 pound Yellowtail boated and put in the cooler. We also had some smaller Muttons today that we kept and released an Amberjack.   On the second part of the day we stayed in the Harbor and played with the Tarpon and some sharks. Our first drift back we hooked a big Tarpon but it spit the hook early. A few minutes later we hooked another fish, some where in the 120 pound range. We fought the fish for about 45 minutes before it broke through the leader on a hard run. We had the leader on the reel though so it was an official catch. After that the tide started to turn so we moved a little bit and started chumming the water for some sharks. We hooked and released two Sand Sharks early and there was a little waiting time. As the Sun went down we hooked what we were looking for, a 6 foot Lemon shark. After pulling her boat side for a quick picture we cut the leader and the shark swam off safely
