Past Two Trips

Past Two Trips

Yesterday we did some a 4 hour trip of Mutton fishing. Overall we caught 6 Muttons all in the 12 to 15 pound range. We started off in 140 feet of water fishing a wreck. We took the gamble and decided to move. Sometimes this works out well for us and we get into more fish and sometimes you say to yourself, "we should have stayed put". Yesterday was one of those "maybe we should have stayed put days". Thats fishing though and we still ended up with a lot of great eating filets of fish for the guys.

Today we ran a fun trip Tarpon fishing with some family and friends. On our 5th drift back we hooked a big fish maybe around 100-110 pounds. After a 45 minute battle the fish made some great runs and and jumps and the hook pulled from the fish right near the boat. We weren't upset because the fish swam away safely and we still got to see her work, which is the most important thing to us. Its all about the fight with these Tarpon and it made for some great photos. The next fish was about 80 pounds and she too fought for about 45 minutes. After getting her near the boat a few times with let our charter put some gloves on and wire her in even closer. Here we saw the fish was hooked safely in the top of the mouth with a circle hook. After getting some good action shots we popped the leader and let her swim away. The weather has been too nice to describe and it is staying that way. Summer is here and were looking forward to the new season of fishing
