Calm Water

Calm Water

Today we started off the trip trolling but quickly changed game plans. There was a nice weed line in 260 feet but all we found were very small dolphin on it. I pushed out to almost 600 feet and didn't see anything promising. On our way back in we picked up a legal dolphin to start our day. Our first spot to bottom fish was in 210 feet and it was hot off the bat. Every bait we sent down got crushed by either a nice Mutton or an Amberjack. The biggest Mutton out here was 16 pounds and we released a few few Amberjacks, one over 75 pounds. When the bite slowed down we came into 140 feet and put a chum bag in the water. Here we had nice sized yellowtails behind us and constant bites on the bottom from nice Muttons, nothing huge but great eating size. We finished out the day here and left to come in after trying to hook a big Goliath Grouper
