Night Trip

Night Trip

We ran an eight hour trip today starting at 4 P.M. and returning at 12 A.M. The action was steady while we filled the cooler and beat the heat. I started off in 190 feet fishing the sand near a large wreck. We got a few nice Muttons here but were eventually run off the sharks and 400 pound Goliath Groupers that kept breaking our lines. (Goliath Groupers are a protected species here in Florida so we can't harvest them, the only time we use tackle big enough to match them is if our customers are interested in a hard fight and a once and a lifetime picture.) After pulled anchor I ran up to the East a few miles and set up, up current of an even larger wreck. The Mutton bite was steady and we worked at putting a few more in the cooler. Because of the chumbag we had some nice Yellowtails up behind us that we also caught. After a few break offs we hooked a Black Grouper and landed it, somewhere in the 15-20 pound range. 4 of the Muttons were over 10 pounds and we had about 8 or so smaller fish that were keeper size
